What is it like to work with you?
Our treatments are structured, which means that we want to work toward specific goals with a clear treatment plan. That plan is developed collaboratively with you based on your own experience and our Evidence-Based Psychotherapies (treatments shown to be effective for people like you). We may work on developing specific skills or building new perspectives. We will recommend activities for you to work on between sessions. We want to help you address painful experiences and change problematic behaviors in your real life, so that eventually you will feel ready to be your own therapist - feeling steady, capable, and resilient on your own.
What can I expect in our first meeting?
In our first meeting, we will ask you questions about your history, your strengths, and your current difficulties, We want to get a full picture, so we can make the best recommendation on the treatment most useful to you. Then we decide together with you how to go forward - treatment works best when it is collaborative with the therapist and client working together as equal partners.
How long does treatment last?
Duration of treatment often depends on the severity of problems and the specific treatment program you are working with, but the average number of sessions is 12-16. Some treatments, like CBT for Insomnia, are often successful in only 6 sessions while some people engaged in intensive treatment for complex trauma may be in treatment for as much as a year or more. We are always working to help you become independent and capable in your own wellness, but we will support your therapy goals for as long as you need and want us.
Do you take insurance?
We are out-of-network providers, which means that we are not paneled with any insurance companies and we do not file claims for our clients. Rather, we take payment at the time of service and provide necessary documentation to seek reimbursement from your insurance company for out-of-network benefits. These benefits vary by insurance plan. You can call your insurance plan's customer service number to find out what your benefits are.
Can you accept HSA cards or provide documentation for FSA reimbursement?
Most certainly! You will also automatically receive documentation that can be used for reimbursement for HSAs or FSAs. You can also use this documentation for tax deductions or business deductions (in the case of coaching or business-related counseling). If you have an HSA card, you can use that to pay directly.
What is the cost of sessions?
Cost may vary based on provider. Initial assessment sessions generally cost $250. 50-minute therapy sessions cost $150-225 depending on the provider credentials. If you choose to work with one of our therapists-in-training, cost of sessions is $150 or less (determined by a sliding scale based on income).
What forms of payment do you take?
Due to working exclusively online, we only accept credit card payments.
Good Faith Estimate
Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services.
You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items and services. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees.
Make sure your health care provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least one (1) business day before your medical service or item. You can also ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service.
If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.
Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.
